Yes, this is a beastly lock that could help ensure your ride doesn’t go for a walk when it’s parked down on Canal, but for this namesake of bike messenger Mecca doesn’t help out the heaviest user of chain locks: the NYC bike messenger. Sure, NYU students can keep their daddy’s bike locked to the fence overnight, but the dropout lock shackle and odd lengths of the chain will keep this lock off my waist, and off most other messengers, too.
